About Confident Psychiatry

Confident Psychiatry is a clinical learning community for PMHNPs and psychiatric clinicians who want to get better at thinking through cases.
Formal training gives you the criteria, the pharmacology, and the guidelines. What it can't give you is the experience of working through a case that doesn't fit any of them cleanly — and most clinicians finish training without ever watching someone reason through one out loud.
That's what happens here. Live case-based masterclasses, interactive case discussions, and office hours where members bring the messy ones. Recorded sessions and a course library sit underneath it, but the live work is the point.
Everything here is education. It isn't clinical supervision, and it isn't consultation on anyone's specific patients.

About Dr. Richardson

I'm Gerald Richardson, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist.
I started Confident Psychiatry because I kept meeting PMHNPs who knew the material well and still felt unsure the moment a patient stopped matching the textbook. That gap isn't a knowledge problem. It's a reasoning problem, and it closes by watching someone experienced think through enough cases that the process starts to feel like your own.
So that's what I teach. Not what to memorize, but how I actually work through a case — what I'd ask next, what would change my mind, and where I'm genuinely uncertain. Psychiatry has real gray zones, and I'd rather show you mine than pretend they aren't there.

The live sessions are where the real work happens. If that's the kind of learning you've been looking for, join us.
